Burma can't wait

Burma can't wait for the world to politely sit back, patiently outside the door, wanting...yearning to get in and help its people survive. It's amazing how even in a time for desperate measures, the government refuses to grab the hand reaching out to her. I didn't know very much about Burma before the cyclone, so i did some exploring. I think this video says it all. how does a government allow its people to die? I mean, if you don't take care of your people, then you don't have a population...without people, how do you define your country...what makes a culture? I can respect a government for wanting to be state run, but i cannot respect a country bent on self destruction.

BioShock Coming to a Theatre Near You!

Bioscreen

Gore Verbinski's next film will take us back to Davy Jones' locker -- but this time, into the undersea world ofBioShock.

The Pirates of the Caribbean director has been tapped to direct and produce a film based on the critically acclaimed world of the Xbox 360 game for Universal, Variety reports. The studio struck a deal with publisher Take-Two Interactive that's the biggest game-to-movie pact since the ill-fated Halo movie.

Verbinski, a fan of games who delivered the keynote address at the DICE summit earlier this year, praisedBioShock's "utopia-gone-wrong" storyline, saying, "Of all the games I've played, this is one that I felt has a really strong narrative."

BioShock, released last autumn, is a first-person adventure game that puts the player into the ruins of a mysterious undersea world called Rapture, where he must discover what went wrong in what was supposed to be an Ayn Rand-style objectivist paradise.

In an interview with Variety's games blog, Verbinski elaborated on how he'll tackle the game's creepy moral dilemmas. "I think we'll go right up to the edge with the Little Sisters. I don't want to soften it to the point where the core audience feels betrayed," he said.
